SPALDING FOUNDATION FOR INJURED DRIVERS AND RACE OF CHAMPIONS TO PARTNER AND HOST DRIVER’S REUNION AT CHEMUNG SPEEDROME ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 4, 2018

-Shangri-La (Tioga) Speedway and Chemung Speedrome Driver’s to Share Limelight-

Owego, N.Y. – (May 25, 2018) – On Saturday, August 4, 2018 the Spalding Foundation for Injured Driver’s and the Race of Champions will partner to host a unique Driver’s Reunion at the Chemung Speedrome Race of Champions event. The day will feature famous drivers from those famous speedways as well as the traditional Spalding Foundation auction.

“We have talked about hosting an event like this for some time,” stated Betty Sherwood of the Spalding Foundation for Injured Driver’s. “This event provided all of the opportunity for us to bring everything together. We have a lot planned for the evening but it will be great to bring back the drivers, have some fun and share our time together. We are really looking forward to seeing everyone there.”

The Rod Spalding Classic for the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series will take center stage for 75 laps around the challenging Chemung track, joined by the Race of Champions Super Stock Series in the Tribute to Ed McGuire 51 lap event. The INEX Bandoleros and INEX Legends will round out the four division show.

There will be an autograph session for the reunion drivers as well as the Spalding Foundation auction. In lieu of raising the price of the ticket for a contribution to the Spalding Foundation, the Race of Champions will donate $1,000 and there will be a pass of the helmet by driver’s during the redraws for the evenings feature events.

A formal list of driver’s will be released in mid-June, however, the following have indicated their intention to attend the event; Brett Bodine, Dave Osgood, Bobby Osgood, Dave Jackson, Billy Griffin, Tim Connolly, Cal Lane, Wayne Miller, Billy Maynard, Wilson “Pete” Elston, Benny Stephens, Larry Nye, Ed Rafferty, Chris Pozzi, Eddie Roberts, Jerry Chandler, Lee Sherwood, Denny Shipman, Kirk Abbott, Randy Hedger, Ronnie Shepard, Terry Potrzebowski and Pete Turner.
