RACE OF CHAMPIONS ASPHALT SPORTSMAN READY TO KICK OFF SPECIAL END OF SEASON SERIES WITH BATTLE OF THE BORDER “50” PRESENTED BY NUMBER ONE SPEED
The Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series is set to begin its four race mini-series, beginning at Evans Mills (N.Y.) Speedway with a $2,000-to-win special presented by Number One Speedway, this Sunday, September 9.
Last season, the series inaugural season, Tommy Catalano of Ontario, N.Y., turned in a champion performance over the course of the three race “post-season” challenge. This season Evans Mills was added to the list of tracks and racers are up to the challenge. Names like Andy Jankowiak of Buffalo, N.Y.; Mike Leaty of Williamson, N.Y.; Daryl Lewis, Jr., of Ontario, N.Y.; and Scott Wylie of Blasdell, N.Y.; along with Sportsman racers Sherri Hogan of Oakville, Ontario; Andy Lewis of Ontario, N.Y.; Mike Ramos of Lyons Falls, N.Y., and Dave Koszlowski of Clarence, N.Y., are expected in attendance along with several others and they will be looking to take on the Evans Mills regulars and the challenging speedway configuration.
“It’s going to be an exciting race for us,” stated Sportsman regular and proponent of the event, Mike Ramos. “We were looking for something special and the Race of Champions Sportsman Series fits great with Evans Mills. I think it is going to be a great day on Sunday and we are really looking forward to it.”
The Hoosier 1070 tire will be the exclusive tire for the division.
The Race of Champions Asphalt Sportsman Modified Series plays a part in a great day of racing at Evans Mills along with the INEX Legends and Bandoleros, 4 Cylinder Trucks, Thunder Stocks and Sport Compacts. Racing begins at 3:00 pm.
