RACE OF CHAMPIONS DIRT 602 SPORTSMAN MODIFIED SERIES TO OPEN 2025 SEASON AT OHSWEKEN SPEEDWAY FRIDAY, MAY 9

The Race of Champions Dirt 602 Sportsman Modified Series is set to launch its highly anticipated 2025 season this Friday, May 9, at the world-class Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario, Canada. The race will be part of the track’s 28th Annual Season Opener, ushering in a new year of fierce competition on the clay oval located on the Six Nations Reserve.

This season opener marks the earliest start in the history of the Series, underscoring the growth and momentum the Series continues to build across the Northeast and Canada.

The Race of Champions Dirt 602 Sportsman Modified Series has become a staple in the short track dirt racing world. Built on parity and accessibility, the division offers highly competitive racing and a proving ground for rising stars. The 2024 season brought thrilling finishes and breakout performances, setting the stage for what is expected to be a wide-open chase for the 2025 championship.

Ohsweken Speedway, widely regarded as one of the premier dirt racing facilities in North America, has hosted the Series since its inception in 2016. With its progressive banking, smooth racing surface, and top-tier amenities, the track consistently draws some of the best dirt racers from both Canada and the United States. For many drivers and teams, Ohsweken is not only a fan-favorite venue but a key measuring stick in the title hunt.

Brad Rouse and Cody McPherson, both hailing from St. Catharines, Ontario, have established themselves as two of the most accomplished drivers in Series history. Their experience and consistency at tracks like Ohsweken make them perennial contenders and fan favorites to watch as the season kicks off.

"Starting our season at Ohsweken is a great way to set the tone for the year," stated Joe Skotnicki, Race of Champions. "It’s a track with great history, tremendous fan support, and top-notch competition. There’s no better place to start chasing a championship."

Friday’s event will feature qualifying and main events for the Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series, along with a full night of racing from Ohsweken’s weekly divisions. Pit gates will open at 5:00 p.m., grandstands at 6:00 p.m., and racing is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
