SCOTT WYLIE RUNS TO RACE OF CHAMPIONS ASPHALT SPORTSMAN MODIFIED SERIES VICTORY IN SERIES FIRST EVER VISIT TO EVANS MILLS SPEEDWAY

Scott Wylie of Blasdell, N.Y., drove to his first ever Race of Champions Series victory this past Sunday evening at Evans Mills (N.Y.) Speedway in the Race of Champions Asphalt Sportsman Modified Series first ever visit to the challenging facility.

Wylie drew the pole, slipped back in the field and regained the lead on lap 30 and held off Connor Sellars of Owego, N.Y., to earn the victory.

“We had a good car and some breaks definitely went our way,” offered Wylie in victory lane. “We did slip back in the field but just kept digging and things worked out in our favor. It was a great night for us. I’m thankful to be driving for Paul Graff and his team. Today was a great day for us.”

Wylie redrew the pole after the qualifying races before Andy Lewis of Ontario, N.Y., took over the top spot. Wylie worked his way back into the top spot on lap 30 with heavy pressure from Sellars until the checkered flag waved.

Andy Jankowiak of Buffalo, N.Y., recovered from a mid-race penalty to finish third.

Kevin Timmerman of Ontario, N.Y., drove from 12th to finish fourth. Evans Mills Speedway regular Randy Brunelle of Malone, N.Y., rounded out the top-five.

Daryl Lewis, Jr., of Ontario, N.Y., posted the fastest time during green-white-checker qualifying. Daryl Lewis, Andy Lewis and Sellars won the qualifying races.
