RACE OF CHAMPIONS SPORTSMAN MODIFIED, SUPER STOCK, FOAR SCORE DASH SERIES AND “ROCKET PERFORMANCE “SPORTSMAN 602 DIVISION READY TO ROLL WITH “NIGHT AT

The Race of Champions Sportsman Modifieds; Super Stock; FOAR Score Dash and “Rocket Performance” 602 Modified division will be ready to begin their season with a “Night at the Races” at Lake Erie Speedway.

The event offers teams an opportunity to have track time prior to the “biggest” weekend in asphalt racing in the region, Presque Isle Downs & Casino Race of Champions Weekend, September 24, 25 and 26. The event also kicks off the championship chase for the series.

Race of Champions Sportsman Modified Series racer, Eddie Hawkins of Walworth, N.Y., tuned up his machine recently at Evans Mills Speedway in Northern New York with a victory.

“We are ready to go,” stated Hawkins. “We raced last year a few times during the pandemic, but it just didn’t seem the same. It was great to be out, but now it is better to be getting back to normal with a focus on our race season. We feel like we have a great opportunity to be the champions of the Series and we are looking forward to giving it our best effort.”

The Race of Champions Super Stock and FOAR Score Dash Series will also kick off their seasons.

2019 Race of Champions Super Stock Champion, Tommy Barron of Ontario, N.Y., is looking to get the “monkey” off his back at Lake Erie.

“We haven’t been able to get to victory lane yet,” stated Barron. “We’ve worked hard on our car, but just haven’t been able to get there. Hopefully, we will be able to visit victory lane this time around. We will be there giving it our all.”

The “Rocket Performance” 602 Sportsman Modified will make its debut at Lake Erie’s “Night at the Races”.

Grandstands will open at 5:00pm with Qualifying racing beginning at 6:00pm and Feature racing scheduled to begin at approximately 7:00pm. Advance tickets are available at www.lakeeriespeedway.com for $10 before the day of the event.

Directions: The track is located at 10700 Delmas Drive, North East, Pa., just Northeast of Exit 3 on Interstate 86 and just south of Interstate 90 off exit 41 at County Route 89.
